fuck it
i dont want girls sexualising mlm relationships anymore. at all
i dont want them fetishizing our relationships bc they think it’s sexy
i dont care if its a “way for them to express their sexuality”. that aint right and its messed that they can say that they want men in the porn industry to stop fetishizing wlw relationships, only to do the same bc its “fandom”
can yall please reblog this actually ??
bc like. im a boy attracted to boys. and this is making me uncomfortable and i want it to stop
and im not the only one ? a handful of people have agreed with me and im sure there are more
please dont ignore this bc you want to keep writing/drawing/reading m/m porn…. or bc im a boy and you dont care what i have to say….. especially if you disagree with the treatment of wlw in the porn industry its a double standard and this is important to me and i dont want it to be swept under the rug
People in the comments not understanding that there’s a difference between fetishizing mlm relationships and writing/drawing mlm relationships with a degree of respect. We’re not asking you to stop getting involved in mlm fictional ships; we’re asking that you stop reducing mlm ships to hypersexualized fetishistic tropes.
You can say that you’re just “expressing your sexuality” until your blue in the face but the bottom line is that tropey, fetishized content does legitimate damage to young mlm who go into fandom looking for stories that express how they feel and run smack dab into JohnLock noncon. They run into a wall of hateships where mortal enemies are shown having violent sex being held up as the main ship of the fandom (hi Reaper76!). They run smack dab into fandom that ships two men together, not because they have anything in common or actually like each other, but because they’re two conventionally attractive people they want to see have sex.
When all you focus on is the sexual appeal of a ship, you leave out mlm who are not conventionally attractive. You alienate asexual mlm. You reduce the multifaceted experiences and desires of mlm to two attractive people who exist to fuck for your pleasure. MlM who look for their experiences in fandom are told that they’re purpose is to be fetishized for the enjoyment of people who aren’t then. This isn’t to say that every mlm story is disrespectful or fetishistic. There are certainly stories/fanart that respectfully explore mlm relationships and expand on more than just the sexual aspect of mlm relationships.
Obviously, I can’t stop anyone from doing what they want to do. There are hundreds if not thousands of mlm stories where rape is portrayed as love. There are hundreds drawings of two guys, covered in blood, making out being portrayed as a healthy relationship. That’s basically all I saw as a young bisexual kid trying to use the media I loved to figure myself out and being so repulsed by the fanworks (I came of age in the mid 00′s seme/uke hellscape) that I found that I was scared to identify as mlm until I was much older.
MlM do not exist to be consumed; we are not tools to express your sexuality. We deserve to be positively represented as something other than cheap titillation.
