To all of the disabled people who are afraid right now
To those who fear losing life saving medications and treatments
To those who fear a life of pain and suffering without healthcare
To all disabled people of color who fear for their safety
To all disabled trans and gender non-conforming people who are now afraid of their neighbors and coworkers and the American people
To all disabled women who have already fought so hard for care and fear losing it
It’s ok to be afraid right now
There’s a lot to be afraid of
It’s ok to cry and mourn and panic
It’s ok to feel whatever you may be feeling as a result of the election
Whether you are physically disabled or have mental illness or have a developmental disability or any other form of disability, please remember that you have a community that is here to support you
We may be afraid right now, but we must come together to support each other and fight for our rights
We must find solidarity and support together
While it may not seem like it right now, there is still hope for us because we have a beautiful community of people who are rising up to care for one another
It’s ok to be afraid or feel whatever you are feeling in the aftermath of this election, but please remember that there are still many good people who care about and love you and want you to survive.
Together we will find the strength to fight for our rights and our lives
