Ok, so there was a scene on the OC where a character got shot and killed and that “mmm whatcha say” song was used in the soundtrack

and then SNL did a parody of the scene because it was ridiculous

and now, years later, we’re all still laughing at the same joke because it’s hilarious.

What was the director of the OC thinking?! Like, yeah, Imogen Heap was pretty big at the time, and “Hide and Seek” is a fantastic and incredibly unique song (one woman, alone, with a little autotune. That’s the entire 4:30 of that song, and surprisingly it works very well), and a very emotional one. I would even say it COULD work in the original scene, but it doesn’t. Something about it feels off. I don’t know if it’s the framing, the way the slo-mo is used, but something about it just reads as “funny” when it should read as “HOLY SHIT I JUST FUCKING SHOT SOMEONE!”
