Hey Ontario people! This election is important because whether or not we end up stuck with Doug Ford (incompetent, misogynist, racist, ableist, rich shithead) as the next premier is entirely dependent on weather or not progressive voters actually show up and vote on June 7th. Young people especially have a horrible voter turnout in Ontario – this whole thing hinges on us.

Luckily, voting is actually really easy to do. You just need a piece of government issued photo ID (like your passport or drivers liscence) and proof of address (like a letter addressed to you – if you don’t have one on hand, you can go to your bank and ask for a bank statement in your name). Here’s a link if you want more information.

Voting doesn’t take very long, its super simple, and your vote really, genuinely matters this time around. If the PCs win, their leadership is going to be devestating for working class people, the environment, minority rights and education. Plus, the NDP are running on a platform of free dental care, prescription medication and post-secondary education, which is something that I know would genuinely have a huge positive impact on my life and the lives of a lot of other people I know.

No one running is perfect, but Doug Ford is a corporate shill who openly mocks autistic children and keeps company with white supremacists. He has no concern for average people whatsoever. The last time we had a Conservative premier, he destroyed the provinces social infrastructure with massive cuts, leading to a lot of people ending up dead or on the street. With skyrocketing housing costs, the dual emergencies of climate change and the opioid epidemic, and the concerning rise of xenophobia and racism, we can’t afford 4 years of political regression. This election matters, so please vote on June 7th.
