God I really wish carrying stuffed animals around with you was socially acceptable

I don’t mean to take over a post, but I actually did a project on this for my sociology of deviance class in college!

I carried a large stuffed rabbit whenever I went in public for about a week to observe the reaction of others. The point of the project was to do something harmless yet unusual to see if the action would be considered deviant, in which case someone had to try to correct or shame the behavior.

Long story short, nobody tried to correct my behavior. I was asked about it casually, had a few lingering stares thrown my way and when I was with my boyfriend, shop employees would direct questions to him instead of me. However, nobody refused to assist me when I was alone in a store, nobody said anything about the rabbit besides “oh, thats a cute bunny!” and I attended college classes without even a teacher questioning it.

In conclusion, it is socially acceptable to carry a stuffed animal, its just not a societal norm. ^^

things writers can (probably) relate to

i-love-shmultz:

jilliancares:

-making the facial expression your character’s making and trying to describe it

-writing entire scenes in your head as you shower and not remembering most of it by the time you get to your computer

-deciding you can’t do something you’ve been looking forward to until you write what you told yourself you were going to write, resulting in you laying in your bed doing nothing

-having two completely different ideas for your story to go in and both seem equally good but you can’t do both and you also can’t choose

-having docs with stories you know you’ll never finish but not deleting them anyway, even if they’re only a couple sentences long

-getting random bursts of productivity that could go towards homework or cleaning your room or writing and you know you’ll only be able to do one

-getting inspiration from the most random things

-writing at inopportune times because a perfect line or dialogue just popped into your head and you have to get it down before you forget it

-“what are you writing?” “……..a story”

– “what do you want to do when you grow up?” “uunnghnnggguughhhhh”

-reveling in the embarrassment you put your characters through

– losing all inspiration for how to finish, then feeling bad because some people are actually waiting for the next chapter

Prepare yourself for the worst case of “Marketing didn’t see the movie” ever.

And I HATE IT because it’s SUCH a beautiful design and Hector ACTUALLY HAS HIS GUITAR and I want it SO BADLY but I couldn’t do that to my boy.

Here I fixed it

Perfect, 10/10, would buy 20.

Alright people, new game.

I’ve photoshopped a basic NOT TERRIBLE Hector t-shirt (which I would also totally buy).

Take this picture and put your idea of a better slogan on it, then reblog it on this post.

There’s also the crowd-favorite:

But why stop there when we have other Hector gems to add?

And my personal favorite:

@im-fairly-whitty @upperstories I hope you guys realize you’ve created a monster.

THIS IS EXACTLY THE MONSTER I WANTED.

I’m honestly just using MS Paint but for you @morskijez00 I tried to make it look a little pretty.

I took some creative liberties but I hope you like it. @humanityinahandbag

Also I’m a monster and forgot another iconic Hectorism:

i don’t really think the relationship between generation z and millennials is comparable to the relationship between baby boomers and millennials

mostly because largely speaking. baby boomers are the parents of millennials but millennials aren’t the parents of generation z

your older sibling telling you you’re an idiot for eating laundry detergent just isn’t the same thing as your parents berating you for not having a job in a shitty economy

at my job we have to go through a training program that teaches us the library of congress classification system, and when i was first being trained my boss started to boot it up and she gave me a really anxious and guilty look and said “listen, i’m really sorry in advance, there’s nothing i can do about this, just…. just try to get through it” and i was like lol what’s she talking about and then the program loaded and i was greeted with a deliriously funny-looking photoshopped wizard with glowing eyes pointing at some intro message like “AH YES, JUST AS THE PROPHECY FORETOLD… APPRENTICE, YOU COME AT A TIME OF MOST DIRE NEED… YOU MUST LEARN OUR WAYS” and my boss just looked at me helplessly and was like “i’m so sorry. it’s like two hours long.”

thankfully it wasn’t an elaborate fever dream and i have found screenshots

Oh. This just ages it; everything educational of a certain age is like this. It reminds me of Encarta MindMaze, somehow.

I don’t usually add onto posts, but I can confirm this is real and I’ve had to do it myself and I’m honestly amazed that it’s actually used by people outside of my small college library

This happens, unskippably, every time you start it up, so even if you’re just brushing up for five minutes like they ask us to do every month

GREETINGS

I feel like at this point Carrie Fisher has ascended past just being a revered figure and has kinda passed into myth/goddess level. I don’t just mean people building personal memorials or shrines to her. I mean that there is a genuine, dedicated group of people living their lives in honor of her and who she was and her values, giving thanks to her, asking her for guidance and protection. Carrie Fisher and Princess Leia are not just cultural symbols or inspirations, but as one entity they are seen to watch over and safeguard her ‘followers.’ There are things these followers do in her honor: endeavoring to become more confident and kind, following her footsteps by raising awareness about mental health, speaking out on behalf of minorities and the undervalued. They do these things because these are things Carrie did and entreated others to do. This, essentially, fulfills the classic definition of a religious organization.

Congratulations, Carrie. You’re a goddess in our eyes.
