As of today, November 17, 2018, any post with links, any links, even to other tumblr posts, just don’t show up anymore in tumblr’s search engine.
I just found out about it, after I posted a fic with a link to my masterlist and it got little to no notes (it shuldn’t). I was right – the moment I deleted the links, my post magically appeared in the search again. Wow.
Please spread the word to warn the others.
i don’t…..know if this is true. OP doesn’t elaborate too much so i’m not sure exactly what’s happening but anyway…
i never use the “search” feature because in general i find it clunky so i can’t really speak to that, but posts with links in them do appear to show up if you search for TAGS. (as in /tagged/[your tag here]).
i’ve been posting gifsets with links in them all day and they all show up under the tags i tagged them with, so….if they’re not showing up under SEARCH that maybe sucks but people can still see them if they’re checking tags.
or maybe this was just a bug that happened earlier today but yeah.
“OP didn’t elaborate” because I was sleeping.
Second, just like every glitch, this one may not affect everyone the same way. I used text posts 99% of the time. I also included links to my other tumblr posts in them – and then yesterday evening I noticed that my posts don’t show up when I searched for them through the tags.
But when I removed the links, my posts could be found again. I’m currently waiting for staff to reply to my message – before that happens I don’t have any new info.
UPDATE November 18th: looks like this may be just a glitch, but so far, staff didn’t reply to my mesage, so i don’t know much.
I’ve also noticed that the majority of people is experiencing the same problem as me but there are still people unaffected. I don’t know how this glitch works. Everyone must go check it for themselves – just create a post with a link to another one of your posts, tag it, and then try to find it through the tags.
UPDATE: I don’t know how much simpler I can make this: yes, the external links have been a problem for a long time.
But right now, I’m talking about the INTERNAL LINKS. I mean the links to other tumblr posts. I’ve already said this in the second sentence of my original post.
EDIT: And yes, just as every glitch, it does not affect everyone. You may not be affected, but from what I can see, the majority of people experience this glitch.
UPDATE FROM STAFF:
I guess it means thay acknowledged the bug. We’ll see if they can fix this.
[In case it doesn’t load, the image says: Hello,

LAST UPDATE:I’ve just checked, and it looks like some of the posts with internal links can be found again. Idk if the staff will work on this glitch any further, but at least some of the issues are fixed now.
“Authors can’t use it in fantasy fiction, eh? We’ll see about that…”
–Terry Pratchett, probably
Try to implement anything but a conservative’s sixth grade education level of medieval or Victorian times and you will butt into this. all. the. time.
There was a literaly fad in the 1890′s for nipple rings for all genders(and NO, it was NOT under the mistaken belief that it would help breastfeeding–there’s LOTS of doctors’ writing at the time telling people to STOP and that they thought it would ruin the breast’s ability to breastfeed well, etc). It was straight up because the Victorians were freaks, okay Imagine trying to make a Victorian character with nipple rings. IMAGINE THE ACCUSATIONS OF GROSS HISTORICAL INACCURACY
people just really, REALLY have entrenched ideas of what people in the past were like
tell them the vikings were clean, had a complex democratic legal system, respected women, had freeform rap battles, and had child support payments? theyd call you a liar
tell them that chopsticks became popular in china during the bronze age because street food vendors were all the rage and they wanted to have disposable eating utensils? theyll say youre making that up
tell them native americans had a trade network stretching from canada to peru and built sacred mounds bigger then the pyramids of giza? you are some SJW twisting facts
ancient egypt had circular saws, debt cards, and eye surgery? are you high?
our misconception of medieval peasants being illiterate and living in poverty in one room mud huts being their own creation as part of a century long tax aversion scam? you stole that from the game of thrones reject bin
iron age india had stone telescopes, air conditioning, and the number 0 along with all ‘arabic’ numbers including algebra and calculus? i understand some of those words.
romans had accurate maps detailing vacation travel times along with a star rating for hotels along the way, fast food restaurants, swiss army knives, black soldiers in brittany, traded with china, and that soldiers wrote thank-you notes when their parents sent them underwear in the mail? but they thought the earth was flat!
ancient bronze age mesopotamia had pedantic complaints sent to merchants about crappy goods, comedic performances, and transgender/nobinary representation? what are you smoking?
It’s really bizarre to me whanever neurotypical people start talking like this because this is just what experiencing time is like when you have ADHD. My whole life feels like this and 2018 is no different.
yall need to remember im in Canada, girl guide cookie systems work fairly differently from girl scout cookie season, and the girl guides had a booth at the mall today
