Simple guide:
Born before 1980: You’re gen x, why are you even worrying about this. Maybe go do some gen x things like writing articles about how much us millennials suck.
Born in the 80s or early to mid 90s: millennial
Born between like 1996 and 2000: This is the no man’s land. No one knows which generation you are from. Both will welcome you as one of their own, however.
Born in the 2000s: Gen Z
Born in the 2010s: dude you’re like 5 what are you doing on this site? people say bad words on here please leave.
I’m seeing people born between 1996 and 2000 reblog this and be like, upset they don’t belong, let me clarify. As far as I’m concerned, you guys belong in both generations. You’re still old enough to have seen the huge culture and technological change that we millennials did, and still got fed the same false promises of prosperity as long as we worked hard before the economy went to crap. But you’re also young enough that this change happened early in your lives, and you grew up mostly in the same environment Gen Z kids did. You probably experienced this huge shift way more profoundly than those of us on either side did.
Tl;dr. you guys got both the millennial experience and the gen z experience. Sure it’s hard to place you in one generation or the other, but it doesn’t mean you don’t belong in either. It means you belong in BOTH.
