a main character of a big mainstream movie saying that he loves another boy and is not ashamed of his sexuality? important. teachers being protective when a student gets bullied? IMPORTANT.
parents being supportive and saying that their child deserves everything he wants and that he is still their kid whom they love so much no matter what? SO IMPORTANT. love, simon is important. go see it in theaters. go support this important movie.
one of my favourite things about Love, Simon was how it managed to capture so many little gay nuances that resontate with every gay person, like how Simon couldn’t manage to say he was gay outloud at the begining, or the unique feeling that comes when youre about to come out to someone and youre trying to force the worlds out and your heart is beating so fast. these little things are easily recognizable to anyone who has been closested but straight people dont give them a second thought or recognize the significance
ok so i know love simon comes out really soon and all but you know what else comes out soon (on april 24th)? simon’s sequel from leah’s point of view where she’s going to come out as bi and maybe even get a love interest and ppl are missing out on this!
it’s going to be called leah on the offbeat and this is the full synopsis for it and its cover:
When it comes to drumming, Leah Burke is usually on beat—but real life isn’t always so rhythmic. She’s an anomaly in her friend group: the only child of a young, single mom, and her life is decidedly less privileged. She loves to draw but is too self-conscious to show it. And even though her mom knows she’s bisexual, she hasn’t worked up the nerve to tell her friends—not even her openly gay BFF, Simon. So Leah really doesn’t know what to do when her rock-solid friend group starts to fracture in unexpected ways. With prom and college on the horizon, tensions are running high. It’s hard for Leah to strike the right note while the people she loves are fighting—especially when she realizes she might love one of them more than she ever intended.
the fact that Love Simon’s tag lines are “he’s done keeping his story straight” and “coming out 2018” like….. they get us… bad puns are gay culture and they know that
Simon “I like your boots” Spier and Bram “I-sat-on-the-same-lunch-table-as-my-crush-every-day-for-two-years-and-managed-to-say-a-grand-total-of-three-words-to-him-in-person” Greenfeld are so lucky they found each other and don’t have to subject anyone else to their terrible flirting techniques
honestly if the scene where simon calls soccer tryouts ‘auditions‘ (cuz he’s just a massive theater dork) and bram smiles at him all fondly and simon gets totally flustered is not in the movie I WILL RIOT
