• Unlike the other members of the Rampion crew, Thorne had absolutely no personal stake in the revolution, but he still continued to volunteer his ship and himself even after he was well away from the prison he and Cinder escaped together.
• Given that he painted the Rampion’s naked lady himself, he’s evidently somewhat of an artist.
• While lost in the desert with an inexperienced young girl as a partner, on the run from the governments of two worlds, and blind, he still went to the trouble—and the immense risk—of procuring a body to make a very miserable Iko happy.
• When confronted with a situation that endangers the people he cares about, Thorne’s first response is draw the enemy’s attention to himself so they can escape…regardless of what happens to him.

In short, Thorne may be an ex-criminal, a cadet turned very abruptly captain, and an incurable flirt, but he’s also sensitive, perceptive, and more hero than rapscallion.
