“But Joshua was going to kill everyone in Shibuya!”

andalwaysdance:

No, he wasn’t.

He literally fucking wasn’t.

If you’d bothered to even start the post game content, you would know that Joshua was going to destroy the UG, with the RG only being affected in an indirect way. This is literally said in the first secret report.

“he plans to destroy the UG”. The UG, y’all. Yes, everyone in the UG would have been erased, but it’s important to remember that everyone in the UG is already dead. They all had lives, they all already died fair and square. They’re on borrowed time, and the composer has the right to end it. If Joshua’s plan had succeeded, nobody in the RG would’ve been harmed. He would’ve destroyed the UG only.

How would he have done that though? Well, literally two secret reports later, it’s explained that the UG would collapse in the absence of a composer without a successor having killed the previous one (thus being able to be the new composer):

The composer is not just the ruler of Shibuya, the composer is Shibuya. When Joshua said he was done with Shibuya and wanted to wash his hands of it, what he was really saying was that he was going to kill the composer, himself, and leave Shibuya without a successor, thus destroying the UG.

In other words, Joshua Kiryu was so lonely that he was going to end his own life, and TWEWY is the story of him being convinced by Neku Sakuraba that life is worth living

Understanding this is key to even beginning to understand what TWEWY is actually about and that’s why this is revealed so early in the secret reports, and yet so many people still don’t get it and think that Joshua was just an evil jackass.

I’m posting this in anticipation of the upcoming remake because i know that a new wave of fans are going to not play the post game content and go with the “Evil Joshua” interpretation. I’m begging you, when that happens, please be ready to tell them to read the secret reports, or just refer them to this post.
