š- Favorite book or series?
Iāll admit it, I loved Firestarās Quest, despite all its flaws. Iām just a sucker for clan-building stories. My favorite Warriors fanfic is Snatched, which is also a clan-building story. I love reading about accumulating cats one by one, getting to know each of them and giving them ranks and namesā¦If I were to ever actually write a full Warriors fanfic, it would definitely be a clan-building fic.
š - Favorite cat?
Well, when I first read the books, Bluestar was one of my favorites, but since reading and discussing Bluestarās Prophecy, Iāve become a little disillusioned with her. Cinderfur and Brightheart, on the other hand, are excellent through and through and I love them both very much.
ā –Ā If you rewrote Warriors, what would you change?
Ok, I purposely saved this one for last.
Starting from the first arc. There are some things that Iād change for sure (like kicking those misogynist and ableist tropes right outta there), but ultimately Iād be aiming to maintain the same magic that Into the Wild held for me. That means the focus of the first arc would beĀ drawing the reader deeper and deeper into this world. Weave in more myths and stories, flesh out side characters more, etc.
Part of that would be giving Firestar a little more of an actual character arc I guess? I remember him getting more mature, but I genuinely canāt remember if he had a real character arc at all or if it was just him moving from apprentice to warrior to leader that gave a sense of progression. I feel like this could go two ways – either he learns to embody the virtues of the clan as their leader, or he aims to change the clan for the better. Iād probably go for the latter, just cause, yāknow, heās Firestar, and also that would really set the stage for a full rewrite.
I think the first arc would mostly keep the same story beats, though. I really liked Scourge, but thematically a lot more could be done with himā¦Iāll be honest, I donāt know what exactly, since I have no intention of actually doing a rewrite, but something for sure.
Past that I have to speak in broader terms. I like the idea of the journey for sure, but it kind of disappoints me that they built up this cool setting and immediately left it behind? So instead the cool roadtrip buddies would have to do something together at home. They would be together though, because otherwise weāre getting so wildly off course itās kind of a pointless exercise. Maybe a prophecy that seems pretty clearly about one cat, but thatās interpreted differently by every clan, so they all show up ready for their special adventure and instead itās party time for everyone? That could be fun to play with.
Anyway, then thereās Power of Three stuff. There are so many very cool ideas about alternate cats the Three could beā¦I think I would keep Jay, Holly, and Lion (and maybe even Dove but have her be actually a fourth instead of shunting Holly out), but split them up somehow. Someone in one of the Discord servers was talking about them being kin of cats Firestar considers his family but arenāt necessarily blood related, which is fun, but thereās a lot of other routes to go too. The one thing I can tell you is Hollyleaf gets a power of some sort. Even if I cut the whole magical powers thing you better believe Hollyleaf has some cool unique ability because she absolutely deserves it.
Andā¦.Iām literally clueless about whatās been happening after that, so weāll stop there! But thereās my very loose ideas on things I would change about the Warriors canon.

Normally, medicine cats are the only cats in warriors who know how to count. It makes sense- medicine cats need numbers to prescribe exact doses, while the warriors pretty much only need to know if there is a large amount of something or a small amount. This is the reason medicine cats accompany leaders to their nine lives ceremony. Itās their job to signal when the correct amount of lives have been given, so no mistakes are made. This method worked without flaw for generations, however, StarClan forgot to take into account that Mothwing would not be at Mistystars ceramomy. It wasnāt until her 60th life or so that they realized their mistake.
Top 5 saddest warrior deaths?
-Gorsepaw, still not over Tigerstar just killing him in the middle of the camp like that
-Stonefur, Tigerstar just has a really bad habit of killing cats in the middle of their camps and its not ok
-Gray Wingās death actually made me cry
-Cinderpeltās death also made me cry
-The Elders that stayed behind during the Great Journey
Mod Steff would like to contribute:
Feathertail- made me cry reading it. Still not over it. Itās been 10+ years
Briarlight- she was just sO GOOD
Stonefur- arguably also the most noble death in Warriors
Ravenpaw- when he realized he wouldnāt make it back to the barn my soul shattered ok
Badgerfang- The Smallest Warrior can still reduce me to tears
Honorary mention goes to my respect for Crowfeather
However well a Warrior Cats movie would do with book fans and critics, you know thereād be the suburban mom who write a bad review because she didnāt look up anyting about cat watership down and took her seven and eight year old to see a cute movie about cats but instead of getting them to shut the fuck up for an our and moving on with their lives Timmy is traumatized and crying and Kaileighghlaugh has inducted all the other neighborhood kids into a cat cult
ā¦.okay, someone needs to explain Warrior Cats to meā¦
there are cats. a lot of cats dont like each other. some cats can see the future and other magic shit. they fight a lot over food and romance and stuff. the book series follows multiple generations of cats and different perspectives but the general theme is that the cats have different jobs and they have babies and do battle
This is a good explanation, but massively undersells the sheer scale of Death and Suffering also going on. People donāt call it Cat Game of Thrones or Cat Watership Down for no reason. Someone dies at least once a book. Kittens die far too often for my comfort, frankly. Ferncloudās kits starving to death during the New Prophecy arc will fuck me up for life. Sometimes cats just die fuckin out of nowhere for no damn reason. No one is safe! Bam, a snake pops out of a rock and bites them. Bam, they slipped on a mountain path and plunged to their death. Bam, an eagle swooped out of fuck all nowhere and carried them off. Bam, they fell through the ice while playing on the lake. Bam, they drank fucking car battery fluid, or ate yew berries, or just walked into the wrong tunnel and were never seen again- ALL OF THESE ARE CANONICAL DEATHS. SOME OF THOSE HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. And honestly those are all fairly tame ones, more shocking because they happened suddenly when you werenāt expecting it! The really grisly ones, like the two apprentices that get mauled by dogs, or Scourgeās fight with Tigerstar, or Hawkfrost and the fox trap? Those linger. They take their time describing the viscera. If you want to know the scope of the ridiculous amount of dying that goes on in Warrior Cats, just check out theĀ āMembers of Starclanā category on the fan wiki. Starclan is the cat afterlife. There are three hundred and eleven pagesĀ under the Members of Starclan category. Warrior Cats does not fuck around.

So, my friend is working on bringing back a forum. Weāre currently in need of several high positions, so if you enjoy Warriors you might wanna give it a shot!
The time of the previous clans has passed, and four new clans have risen – the strong and pure BlazeClan, the savage and clever ThornClan, the faithful and wise StormClan, and the kind and peaceful TideClan. However, there is a darkness that is closing in on them – a darkness that threatens to overtake them, and to destroy all that they know and love.
What path will you take?
Will you work to interpret the signs of StarClan as a medicine cat?
Will you lead your Clan to prosperity?
Whatever path you choose, one thing will always remain constant, no matter the time or place:
“We Are Warriors!”
