Simon’s friends should’ve flooded him with love and support after he was publicly outed instead of being absolute papayas and reprimanding him for being blackmailed, and should’ve begged him for forgiveness after completely abandoning him in his time of greatest need, in this essay I will
That’s where the book and the film differ so much. When I’d watched the film for the first time – I was so pissed of with Simon’s friends ADHFDPIFVJDFIFDI!!! But then I’d read the book, and was like… okay – this is how it should be. Because in the book his friends were actually supportive in that crucial moment when he was at his most vulnerable, and they actually tried to kick the arses of those two arseholes who bullied Simon at school.
I love the film , I really do. But go read read the book if you haven’t done it yet, you are missing out a lot. There is so much more to it than in the film. Go read it, you’ll love it.

Simon: 😍 💕 💗 😍 💯 💯 👌 💞 ❤ 😍 😍 💓 😍 😍 💟 💞 💕 ❤ ❤ 💗 👌 😍
Bram: how did you said that out loud
some more things abt love, simon bc i’m still emo:
- simon has a different email in the book, but there’s a reference to it on the wall next to his bed (“hour to hour, note to note” can be seen behind him when he looks out his window)
- everyone clapped, cheered, and cried during the ferris wheel scene
- lots of things were different in the book but i honestly wouldn’t change anything about the movie because imo the changes made the story even more emotional and even as someone who read the book the movie was still suspenseful
- simon spier is a cannon hufflepuff and that made me really happy
- simons parents reactions to his coming out in the movie were. spectacular. those scenes were exceptional and very emotional and overall done super well.
- i’m gonna read the book and see the movie at least a couple more times
- simon is hella relatable. (see: “i like your boots!”)
- the characters are portrayed beautifully in both the book and the movie. no personality is limited to being characterized by sexuality or by a single trait
- the book and movie were gorgeous and i’m in love
- also don’t forget there’s gonna be a sequel from leah’s perspective, in which she comes out as bi !!!
i keep calling simon a dumb bitch for not realizing bram liked him when meanwhile a girl could literally tell me she’s in love with me and i’d be like platonically? you mean platonically? is that platonic? are you gay?
simon when bram shows up at the ferris wheel: i’m kind of waiting for someone
me in the theatre pretending i’m not JUST as stupid: simon you fucking buffoon. you imbecile.
Simon and Leah texting
Simon: How does one turn their emotions off?
Leah: Okay so first go to settings
Leah: I’m a fucking idiot I thought that said emojis at first
Simon: No, I’m still willing to try this. I’m at settings
are you, yknow? *pulls out halloween oreos*
The g in gmail stands for gay now
the fact that im not watching love simon right this instant is homophobic
I just saw love, simon and I don’t think I’ve ever before heard an entire theater clap and cheer at the climax of a movie and lemme tell you it was an incredible experience
